My grandfather three generations ago
Was the captain of a big schooner ship
In the late nineteen teens on the Belfast shore
As she was sent down her ways she did stick
Well that’s bad luck the old ones all say
She’ll go down one of these days
Another day’s work and they got her to go
From the dry-dock to Atlantic she slipped.

Well the days of the steamer were coming up fast
The wood boats had long owned the sea
But the Jenny Flood Kreger’d make any man proud
When you ride on the wind you are free
From five masts the canvas did fly
To catch the wind and lay her up on her side
From London, Havana, or Isle au Haut
No finer a ship there could be

Well old Grampy Captain and his Kreger one day
They’re coming in to Baltamore
Well, they found the wind in a favorable way
So they passed on the harbor tow
From five masts all canvas a fly
Just to prove the old ways had not died
That was a beautiful sight so said
The folks all aligned on the shore

Well not long after young Jenny was moored
In the harbor without wind and waves
She stood there unused for a year or more
It was a sign of the days
See there were after World War I
Too many ships for the work to be done
She sank at here mooring in that harbor now
And on the bottom she stays

From five masts the canvas did fly
To catch the wind and lay her up on her side
From London, Havana, or Isle au Hout
No finer a ship there could be
From London, Havana, or Isle au Hout
No finer a ship there could be
